As this is my last column for the Taper as Master, I wish to personally thank all who have made this such a great year! There were so many Brethren and Masonic family members who have contributed many hours, personal funds and other sacrifices to ensure that Lynnhaven stays as the top-notch Lodge of the Commonwealth. We've had a highly successful kitchen and the team that runs it. Our Ritual is second-to-none spearheaded by an outstanding LIW. The Funeral Committee has come together for the most flawless show of complete pride and professionalism in existence. We've had an outstanding show of support for many of your Lodge programs such as the Penny Harvest for our Disabled Veterans. Our beloved Brothers and Sisters of the Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile have been most supportive of all Lodge functions. So many have done so much that there's not enough paper here to name all. So, please accept my most heartfelt appreciation and compliments for a Job Well Done! Lastly, please join me in welcoming the incoming Master and his Lodge Officers. Bro. Doug had an outstanding evening for Senior Warden's Night. I wish all well and look forward to many years of friendship, Brotherly Love and the ability to provide the support that has been provided to me. Thank you, I have thoroughly enjoyed this year!!!! Sincerely and fraternally, Philip R. (Phil) Arenz Worshipful Master (h) 857-3885 - (c) 515-3833 phil9304@hotmail.com Veterans Pins

From the West
We have had a very good year. It was very nice to see all the Brethren who came out for Senior Warden’s Night at the November Stated. I must admit that, even though I got a few words wrong, it was a fun night. We elected two candidates to receive the degrees in Freemasonry and are eagerly awaiting their initiation into our Lodge. When I am elected as Master of Lynnhaven #220 at the December Stated, I want to extend my personal invitation to all the Brethren of Lynnhaven, their family, and friends to attend the Open Installation of the 2009 Officers at the Lodge Saturday, December 13, 2008 at 6:00 pm. We will be looking forward to seeing all of you there for a fine evening to socialize and meet one another. We will have light refreshments afterwards. Come on out and wish the new 2009 Officers good luck. I am looking forward to 2009 being one of the best years, if not the best, Lynnhaven has ever had. A small note to our Lynnhaven Ladies whose husbands have gone to the eternal lodge. At the request of his wife, the New Grand Master of Masons of Virginia has requested your presence the evening of Saturday January 17, 2009, for his Official Open Visit for Districts 36 and 56 at the Khedive Shrine Center. If any of our Lynnhaven Ladies wish to attend. please contact me at 757-650-6707. Fraternally yours, Douglas R. (Doug) Norris Senior Warden (h) 468-6720- (c) 650-6707 ndougdrn@aol.com Lodge Website

From the South
Brethren,It has been quite a year. A year remembered mostly for membership losses. I remember, at my last meeting as Master, draping the charter in December of 2007 and it has been draped, except for one month, in 2008. The memorial service for all those lost this year will be presented at the December Stated Meeting on the 11th. Also, at this meeting, the officers for Masonic Year 2009 will be elected. Please try to be there for this most important meeting. Special Thanks
to the following Brethren who helped make the “Annual Fish Fry” such a success:WM Phil Arentz Bro. Doug Norris Bro. Les Dale Bro. Asa Sawyer WM Joe Haggerman Alan Bowman Bill Cole Rudy Dela Rosa Bro. Jim Kephart Bro. Brent Lane John Lawson WM Hal Leonard WM Jay Obre Bro. Ryan Petit Bro. Art Price I want to congratulate the 2008 officers for their good work and hope that the 2009 officers have a very successful and enjoyable year. As always, I pledge my support to Lynnhaven Lodge!
