The York Rite Sovereign College of North America exists primarily to be of service to the York Rite of Freemasonry.
Constituent colleges must declare fealty to the Grand Lodge of their respective jurisdictions.
The prerequisite for membership, which is by INVITATION ONLY, is good-standing in all four York Rite bodies Lodge, Chapter, Council and Commandery or Preceptory (Canada).
THE SOVEREIGN COLLEGE
The York Rite Sovereign College of North America is the supreme governing body for all Colleges within its jurisdiction. As such, it endeavors to promote all those activities which favor the accomplishing of its stated purpose. Among these is the awarding of certain honors for outstanding service.
(1) Then Sovereign College Service Award may be awarded to a Companion Knight who has contributed outstanding service to a York Rite College.
(2) The Gold Honor Award may be given to any Mason for unselfish and faithful service in any branch of the York Rite. In fact, the recipient need NOT be a York Rite Mason. The recipient need not to be a member of a College, nor is it required that he be a member of all the other York Rite bodies.
(3) The Secretary General's Award - The Secretary of the Year should be someone who is a proven administrator, and a College Public Relations Representative. He adds continuity to the line while discharging his duties with efficiency and fidelity.

Prospect Recommendations Need to Be Mailed to the College Secretary in ADVANCE of the Assembly for posting with the Executive Council.
RESOLUTION: Be It RESOLVED: That the Executive Council, acting as a Screening Committee, shall consider all proposals for membership and cause them to be presented to the Assembly or be filed with the College Secretary, who is Executive Recorder of the Executive Council, but a Majority vote by the Assembly can bring a proposal up for SECRET ballot if the candidate qualifies under Section 109, Paragraph A; a UNANIMOUS vote is necessary. Upon the election of the one proposed, previous to his receiving the Order Knight of York there shall be delivered to the College Secretary an Acceptance of Invitation form, signed by the proposer and other sponsors and accompanied by the proper fee. This is Sovereign Law. Thank You.
